Wilburton new builds scrapped after community backlash

Plans for over 100 new homes in Wilburton have been dropped after local backlash.

The application for Camp’s Field, off Stretham Road, included 115 homes, and was "community-led" according to the developer.

However, the proposals were met with strong opposition from locals, with dozens of objections being formally lodged, branding the proposals "unwanted and unsupported" and a "plague" on the village.

After the developer was unable to support claims the site was "community-led" on Friday 26 April 2024, East Cambridgeshire District Council said it  considered the application "finally disposed of".
