A man's been jailed for an unprovoked attack on a couple outside a St Neots' pub.
33-year-old Joshua Hall of Sandfields Road, St Neots, punched a woman as she stood outside the Pig n Falcon in New Street at about 2am on 25 November 2023.
As Hall went to walk away, the victim asked him if the assault had made him “feel big”.
He responded by punching her again, causing her to fall to her knees and her eye socket to bleed.
A witness informed the victim’s partner, who hadn’t seen the assault.
He confronted Hall outside the pub, but was also punched several times and fell to the ground.
CCTV operators in the town spotted Hall using a broken glass bottle to assault the man and alerted police.
Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Hall in South Street, while an ambulance took the couple to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon for treatment.
On Friday 17 January Hall was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm (ABH), common assault and possessing an offensive weapon at Peterborough Crown Court.
Sergeant Simon Page from Cambridgeshire Police:
“This was a completely unprovoked attack which could easily have resulted in more serious injuries.
“Acts of violence will not be tolerated on our streets, and I hope this case demonstrates our determination to bring those responsible to justice.”
