St Neots market square upgrades could be ready in time for Christmas.
The year-long Huntingdonshire District Council project to refurbish the square was due to finish in January 2025.
Now, councillors have said they want the space to host the festive light switch-on in November 2024.
Builders are relocating the car park, installing more seating and opening the space up.
Some local traders have blamed the work for a drop in footfall, and are sad that the trees have been cut down.
