Planning permission has been granted for a Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.

On Wednesday 17 April 2024, councillors recommended approval to build the facility on the Addenbrooke's campus, despite Environment Agency concerns over water supply to the site.

The specialist cancer research hospital will be the first of its kind for the East of England, and will bring together NHS staff from Addenbrooke’s Hospital, alongside scientists from the University of Cambridge.

Pre-construction works are set to begin summer 2024 to start preparing the site for full construction works in 2025.
