Man pulled knife out in busy Cambridge street

A man who pulled a large kitchen knife out on two men in a busy Cambridge street has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Police received a 999 call at about 4pm on Sunday, 23 July, reporting a man with a knife in Sidney Street.

Within three minutes, officers arrived and arrested Jose Millan-Sollano, 46, who dropped the knife on the ground as officers approached him.

Just moments before, he had been caught on CCTV speaking with two men when the conversation became heated.

He was then seen to pull a large kitchen knife, which was wrapped in a tea towel, from his waistband before waving it around.

Millan-Sollano, of Young Street, Cambridge, appeared at Huntingdon Law Court on Tuesday (22nd August) where he was ordered to carry our 150 hours of unpaid work after admitting being in possess of a knife in a public place.

PC Dylan Bucciferro, who investigated, said: “Thankfully no one was hurt in this incident, however there were many people in the area which is particularly busy at this time of year, and understandably it was quite shocking for people to witness.

“Tackling knife crime is a priority for the force, therefore I would urge members of the public to report any information or concerns to us.”
