Man kept huge drugs stash in house with children

A father caught with drugs worth around £50,000 in his house, and in reach of his children, has been jailed for seven years.

Kastriot Ponari, 44, was leaving his home in Queen Edith’s Way, Cambridge, on August 26 last year with his wife and children when officers arrived to search the premises.

They found mobile phones, £1,785 in cash and the garage was being used as a drugs preparation area.

There was also cannabis worth between £3,000 and £5,000, packages of cocaine worth about £15,000, 169 MDMA tablets worth £1,400 and three quarters of a kilogram of cocaine worth between £19,000 and £32,000.

An examination of a phone found messages linking Ponari to drug dealing in the Cambridge area.

At Cambridge Crown Court, Ponari, of Redhill Close, Great Shelford, was jailed, having pleaded guilty to offering to supply MDMA, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and being concerned in the supply of MDMA.

DC Christian Jackman said: “Ponari shamelessly dealt drugs in the Cambridge area and, to make matters worse, there were drugs throughout the house that his children would have been able to easily access."
