A man who head-butted a shop worker in Cambridge has been jailed.
Jack Mason, 24, of no fixed abode, assaulted a member of Poundland staff in Fitzroy Street, Cambridge, on 19 January.
The 24-year-old also stole from the shop on four separate occasions between 19 and 27 January.
At Peterborough Magistrates’ Court Mason was sentenced to eight weeks in prison after pleading guilty to assault by beating and four counts of shop theft.
PC Alexander Metcalfe, who investigated, said: “We’re working closely with Cambridge Business Against Crime and retailers to stop abuse of shop workers and shop theft in the city. It can have a detrimental effect on retailers and customers and we’ll continue to target those who offend.”
