Council home tenants in South Cambridgeshire will pay £36 more a month from April.

The district council has agreed a 7.7 per cent social rent increase for the coming financial year.

This will mean the average social rents will go up from £116.99 a week to £126.

People paying affordable rents are also due to see their rents rise by 7.7 per cent.

Rents for affordable shared ownership properties will go up by 5.4 per cent.

Councillors said this was not an easy decision, but residents were still getting "extremely good value".
