Consultation launched on Addenbrooke's roundabout plans

A major redesign of the roundabout that serves as a key entry and exit point to Addenbrooke’s and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus is being mooted.

The new design proposed by the Greater Cambridge Partnership includes significantly wider cycle lanes and footpaths on both sides of Fendon Road-side of the roundabout to make it safer and easier to walk and cycle.

The central island would be reduced in size to accommodate the upgraded active travel links.

There are proposals to replace the staggered two-stage crossing on Babraham Road with a single-stage crossing, to further improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Further upgrades to other arms of the roundabout could follow in the future.

The consultation closes at midday on 24 July 2023.
