Armed police arrest three men in Cambridge Market Square

Armed police have arrested three men after an incident on Cambridge Market Square.

Officers were called to the city centre at 9.26pm on Thursday 24 October 2024, to reports of men armed with weapons in Market Square.

A 17-year-old man from March has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place and a 23-year-old man from Cambridge has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing class B/C drugs. 

A 19-year-old man from Earith has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a weapon in public, possessing class B/C drugs and possessing class A drugs.

All three men remain in custody and Cambridgeshire Police have said the incident is thought to be isolated.

Star understands people attending a show by comedian Nish Kumar at the Corn Exchange were kept inside for half an hour after the show for their safety.
